Equipment delivery for EPC´s international polycarbonate projects

For one of EPC´s polycarbonate projects in Asia a total number of 18 containers, including 9 flat racks with reactors and a total equipment weight of over 250,000 kg has left the port of Hamburg early June. The estimated arrival will be mid of July in China. Currently EPC is realizing 3 polycarbonate projects in parallel.
With an installed total capacity of over 1mio tons per annum, EPC is the global market leader in terms of technology licensing for non-phosgene polycarbonate technology!

To ensure best product qualities and quantities for our international clients, EPC is providing a “Functional Turnkey Package”. This package contains the Process Technologies & Guarantees, and Engineering Package, the Key Equipment Delivery and supervision of local Engineering, Installation & Construction as well as the plant start-up & commissioning.
For all projects we supply our clients with the main equipment as reactors that is relevant to the process and will later influence the product characteristics.
Through years of experience and material testings and trials, EPC has developed patented equipment that ensures the highest satisfaction of our future producing clients.

Bitterfeld-Wolfen, 06.10.2022 – Start of assembly of the first equipment at AMG Lithium in Bitterfeld-Wolfen (Update from construction site).
Since the groundbreaking ceremony in May 2022, a lot has happened.

The Detail Engineering and execution planning of the construction project are almost completed.

The structural work and erection of the steel structures are proceeding according to plan.
Now, the first process-related equipment for the lithium hydroxide refinery has been delivered to site and is already being assembled.

AMG Lithium and EPC Group finalize detailed engineering for lithium hydroxide production in Bitterfeld

AMG Lithium has now finally entrusted EPC Group with the detail engineering for the battery grade lithium hydroxide upgrading plant in Bitterfeld. The contract was signed by the managing directors on March 29, 2022.

In addition to the usual financial, time and quality targets, the planning also focuses on specific environmental targets and occupational safety: extensive avoidance of wastewater, avoidance of product exposure and CO2 reduction through energy-efficient processes. Furthermore, both companies also intend to cooperate with each other on future projects in Bitterfeld and thus leverage synergies.

“With our decision in favor of the EPC Group, we deliberately selected a medium-sized family-owned company that has the necessary international project experience in chemical plant construction and is well networked in the region,” summarizes Stefan Scherer, Managing Director of AMG Lithium. “Also, in the close cooperation of the last weeks and months, we have noticed that we agree very well in the definition of goals and that the two teams are focused on their implementation,” both managing directors emphasize.

EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH is expanding its management team: From the 1st of July, 2021, Franz-Josef Willems and Karol Kerrane will be joining the management team of EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH. Together with Michael Streng, who is a member of the management and responsible for polymer technologies, Franz-Josef Willems and Karol Kerrane succeed the company’s previous managing directors Jens Henkel, Ulf Henkel, Nadine Henkel and Tim Henkel, who will continue to be a part of the company in the future as managing directors of EPC Holding GmbH and EPC Group Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH, which will mainly drive the expansion and development of new business areas.

Franz-Josef Willems has been working for EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH for 14 years, he is currently the  branch manager at the Arnstadt office. Karol Kerrane is the Sales Director and Head of Technology Licensing at EPC Group for 10 years. The management team is being expanded as part of  EPC Group’s expansion strategy with the aim of expanding and developing new business fields.

EPC extends technology portfolio by a novel manufacturing process for soil enhancers

Sustainable fertilizer for the world: The Dortmund-based company Novihum Technologies GmbH is committed to improving the soil. The highly innovative process patented by NOVIHUM produces a worldwide unique soil enhancing permanent humus granulate from lignite and other additives. This increases the agricultural yield enormously and is therefore a valuable and long-term solution for feeding the world population.

EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH already supported NOVIHUM® during the development phase by providing engineering services and turnkey manufacturing of the pilot plant. With the addition of the NOVIHUM®  technology to the product portfolio of EPC, this partnership is now being strategically expanded.

“Through the partnership with Novihum® we can offer our customers from all over the world an unique solution in the field of soil improvement technologies,” explains Jens Henkel, Managing Director of EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH. “With the granulate the ideal humus content and the optimal carbon / nitrogen ratio can be achieved for each soil type. Even light or leached and dry soils are thus provided with the optimal conditions for particularly high-yielding cultivation”.

The pilot plant of Novihum Technologies GmbH is located in Dortmund. Since 2016 this plant produces 1,000 tons of the humus granulate annually. It has since then been used in agriculture, which again showed that NOVIHUM significantly increases the fertility of the soil, lets it keep moisture much longer and ultimately increases the harvest yield enormously. Especially under stress conditions as in the last dry years the results are very convincing. The planning activities for the first large-scale plant with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons per year have already been completed. EPC Engineering & Technologies offers worldwide turnkey plant construction for this project.

EPC Engineering & Technologies takes over planning of the PHENOL-3 plant

Turn two into three: Leuna-Harze GmbH reacts to the increased market demand for phenolic resins and has a third production plant built to meet it. EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH is in charge of the complete engineering including procurement for this project.

The plant will be built on a newly developed site north of the existing Leuna-Harze plant complex at the Leuna chemical site. Construction and assembly work began in June 2020 and will be completed in June 2021.

The product portfolio and production capacity correspond to those of the predecessor plants in a process that has been partially modified in terms of energy and materials.

The building structure and the proven plant technology were largely adapted from the predecessor plants, whereby the instrumentation and control and process control technology was extensively upgraded. The auxiliary systems and the connection to the existing plant were completely redesigned.
